Match Academy 2018 - Applications Open!

Applications for the 2018 Guru Match Academy are now open! Dates for this will be confirmed in the next few weeks.

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?

We are excited to announce that applications for the 2018 Guru Match Academy are now open! This is a concept that enables young match anglers between the ages of 13 and 18 to team up with an expert member of Team Guru for a day of tuition! The event will take place during the summer school holidays, on two consecutive mid-week days in August. Keep your eyes peeled on the Tackle Guru website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages for updates.

This year, the format of the event has seen several changes. It will now take place at two different venues on two different days - the prolific Guru Makins Fishery in Warwickshire, and beautiful Guru Partridge Lakes Fishery near Warrington. Which venue the young angler is invited to will depend on the anglers home location.

The youngsters will meet in for an introduction and breakfast roll in the morning. They will then be allocated a tutor and peg for the day, before heading off with their Guru for tuition on the method and tactics are suited to their swim on the day. This year we’re hoping to get even more of our expert Guru’s involved with the coaching, on top of last year’s expert stable that included Paul Holland, Adam Rooney, Robbie Taylor, Ben Hagg, Andy Pell, Mark Griffiths, Matt Godfrey, Connor Barlow, Pete Upperton, Pemb Wrighting, Steve Parry, Barry Masson, Mark Taylor, Mikey Williams, and more!

After the coaching, students will be served lunch in the main café area, before preparing for the afternoon match! This will see the students compete against each other in a three-hour event, battling it out infront of the Guru cameras who will be producing a film for broadcast on our website and social media. We're hoping our very own presenter, Dean Matey, will be on hand to present the film and interview students throughout the day!

Like last year, two youngsters attending this year's Match Academy will receive a one-year £1000 sponsorship deal from Tackle Guru - an unmissable opportunity! This will be one student from each of the Academy days.
