Fishing Gurus Finale - Dean Macey

The last episode of Fishing Gurus 2012 has certainly been a grand finale. Dean Macey targeted the beautiful, intimate water known as Rolf’s Lake, in Oxfordshire. The episode was all about travelling light on a day session, and maximising your opportunities. His plan was to trickle bait into several different swims before giving each one 15 minutes or so of fishing time. If he had no joy, it was time to try another spot.
Not only did he focus on mobility, Deano also showed us how important it is to be versatile, having a few methods up our sleeves. Commercial carp can be tricky at times; while you could be blanking away on one tactic, another could transform your day’s angling and Dean was going to prove this by using a Method Feeder, then a classic centrepin and float, followed by a spot of surface fishing – it really was an episode to suit all!
Rolf’s Lake contains not only beautiful, scaly carp to over 30lb, it also holds chub to 8lb and some stonking perch, so there is something for everyone and Deano really fancied a go at the resident perch too, so presented a lobworm later on in the day.
