Q & A with Steve Ringer

Jason Lewis asks, "If you had a chance to achieve one thing in fishing what would it be?"

Answer: At this moment in time I would love to win a team gold in the Feeder World Championships. I have silver and bronze medals but a gold would be the ultimate and would complete the set. Fishing on the world stage has given me a new challenge and for me takes fishing to a whole new level.
On a more personal note though, I’d like to win the UK Champs at some point; I’ve been second in the past and its one of the few titles that has eluded me. The way things are though, that one will have to wait as the World Feeder Champs is taking up so much of my time and as I’ve said a gold there is my ultimate aim going forward.

Vincent John Mark Lloyd asked, "When fishing the pellet feeder, what length rod is the best to use, 10ft, 11ft or 12ft?"

Answer: When it comes to choosing the right length of rod it all depends how far you want to cast. For standard commercial work, i.e. chucking 15m to 35m then I prefer to use a 10ft rod. For casting 35m to 50m it’s 11ft and finally for anything over 50m then I’ll switch to 12ft just to make the casting process that bit easier. As you’ll probably gather by reading this, I’m a big fan of short feeder rods on commercials, as I find they make fish playing a lot easier. They also tend to be softer-actioned, which in turn helps to reduce hook pulls, particularly around the net.
