Make sure you don't miss episode 2 of The Big Fish Off!

Two more legends from the sporting world go head-to-head in the second episode of The Big Fish Off, Series Three, as Jimmy White takes on Bobby George.

Snooker player Jimmy reached the World Championships finals six times, as well as winning a whole host of other titles, but when it comes to angling he is a total novice. But he’ll be getting plenty of help from team captain, Ali, who is a lifelong fan of the ‘Whirlwind’ and somewhat star-struck to have the chance to actually go fishing with him for a few days!

Bobby ‘The Dazzler’ George, thus named for the proliferation of gold jewellery he is usually decked out in, also didn’t quite manage to become world champion, making it to the BDO final twice, but has also won a whole host of other tournaments.

When it came to fishing, he definitely had the edge over Jimmy as he has always been a keen angler, and even has his own fishery. But most of his experience has come from pole fishing, and during these challenges he’ll have to be willing to try some unfamiliar methods that team captain Dean is intending to use, if he is going to succeed.

The challenges get underway with a trip to Hunts Corner Pond, on the Linear Fisheries complex, in Oxfordshire, but with temperatures soaring, will the two teams manage to tempt any of the tench and carp which they are after?

Neither of the guests, nor even the presenters, have experienced anything quite like what they undertake in the second challenge, with trout being the target species. Thankfully neither guest is going to have to perfect the art of casting a fly in the limited time available, as Farmoor Reservoir, where they will be spending the day, allows coarse anglers to use the gear they are more familiar with, at certain times of the year, as long as the hookbait is a fly!

Once again it is roasting hot with barely a breath of wind, which is hardly conducive to the fishing, but the two teams are still hopeful of catching on their zig rig tactics, but when they do, they’ll have some hard decisions to make, as they are only allowed to weigh in two fish – so do they return any caught early on and go for a bigger one, or stick with what they have caught?

For the final challenge, the teams head off to the famous Milton Pools day ticket fishery, where they know that they are going to get plenty of action. But as seeing as this will be a species hunt, it will all come down to catching as many different types of fish as possible, rather than the total number caught. This should be right up Bobby’s street as it involves pole fishing, but Jimmy has been learning fast and still has the competitive edge that has made him so successful over many years, so it is bound to be a nail-biting finish!

The Big Fish Off, Series 3, Episode 2 goes out on ITV4 on Thursday March 23 at 8pm, so make sure you tune in, or have set it to record!
