Midlands match ace Stu Pulsar joins Guru

The Guru team have an amazing start to the year, with our anglers winning matches and leagues up and down the country, and this trend is set to continue with the recruitment of top Midlands match angler, Stu Pulsar.

Stu, who lives in Solihull and works as an electrical contractor, told us: “I started fishing 30 years ago, going properly since I stopped playing cricket and football competitively. I won my first Open match at Warwick on the River Avon when I was 15 – I grew up fishing the Warwickshire Avon, fishing for the Shakespeare for a lot of my team fishing time.

“But I really switched to commercial fishing at Moorlands Farm 12 years ago and I have been a venue regular at Tunnel Barn Farm for the last eight years and recently started going to Makins fishery.

“My early highlights included winning the Angling Times winter league semi-final with 21lb of chub from West Hillsborough, victory in the Twyford Farm float-only league, plus the Hampton Ferry individual winter league winner and numerous Opens on the Avon, Severn, Trent, Dove and the Blythe.

“I won the a league final twice at Moorlands Farm, also holding the match record of 288lb for a long time, mainly fishing chopped worm and caster. I have won the Tunnel Barn winter league twice as a team and won the individual league four times, having also come second twice, won countless Opens there on all baits and in all seasons.

“My favourite methods are long pole and far bank fishing for carp and F1s - I’ve specialised in the F1s for a long time, doing a good few features for the magazines on the way on the subject.”

Stu also added: “I’m very keen still to learn new methods and happy to help any anglers who are looking for advice. I’m really pleased to be joining the Guru team with its fantastic team of anglers and great products.”

We’re sure Stu will be a valuable addition to the team – look out for him in lots of magazine features and online articles over the coming months.
