New team member Connor Barlow welcomed to Guru

As part of a busy month for the Guru team, we’d also like to announce Connor Barlow as the latest recruit to the

Self-employed electrician Connor told us: “I started going fishing at the age of six with my dad who taught me for years before I fished my first Open match at the age of 12. So now, although I'm only 22, I've been fishing the North West circuit for ten years or so.

“Over the years I've won numerous matches at venues such as Partridge, Brookside, Heronbrook and Cudmore. I’ve also represented England at youth level for five years on the bounce from 13 to 18-years-old, in this time I learned various different methods and ways of fishing. Although in the last couple of years I've decided to concentrate on the commercial side of match fishing, I can also adapt to any style of fishing that's necessary.

“Since concentrating on commercials, I had a good year in 2013 with a good number of match wins at Partridge, but I also finished third in the Tunnel Barn masters, winning one of the matches individually with 200lb in 3.5 hours.

“Last year was my best year to date with numerous 50-peg plus match wins at Partridge and I also managed to win the annual 170-peg Gilders match at Heronbrook. This year I've helped Drennan North West qualify for the Angling Trust winter league final and also finished second overall in the 85-peg Partridge individual league over five matches, being beaten on weight to win the league.
