Guru announce Makins sponsorship!

Guru are pleased to announce an exciting new partnership with one of the country’s best commercial fisheries, Makins, involving headline sponsorship of the legendary Warwickshire venue and a Guru Match Academy for youngsters next summer.

Guru brand manager, Adam Rooney, revealed: “Makins and Guru have teamed up to help anglers get even more out of their visit to what is one of my favourite fisheries. We are now sponsoring winter leagues and other large events on the venue and we’ll also be running the first Guru Match Academy event during the summer to develop a new generation of match anglers, 12 to 16-year-olds, to the next level, with a guaranteed prize of a 12-month sponsorship deal up for grabs.”

“We’re really looking forward to the new partnership with Makins and their team - we hope we can help give all visitors a fantastic angling experience so they will return for many years to come, just as I’ve done. I’m particularly looking forward to the Guru Match Academy event as this will give us the opportunity to pass on the team’s knowledge and skills to the next generation of match angling stars.”

Keep an eye out for more info on the Guru Match Academy on the Tackle Guru website (www.tackleguru.com) and on social media in the coming months. The Guru team will also will be helping out with events and competitions, plus the venue will be used for TV shows and features so visitors to the venue will have a great insight into the fishing before they even arrive through this coverage. And, as always, the friendly Guru team are always happy to help, so come and say hello if you see a member of the team on the bank.

Makins Fishery has been around for over 20 years and was originally owned by the legendary character and angling genius Billy Makin. In recent years, Alan McDiarmid purchased the fishery and has brought it on in leaps and bounds - the fishery is well maintained by his skilled staff, offering fantastic fishing in beautiful, clean surroundings.

Adam Rooney Guru Brand Manager and Steve Ringer, Guru’s head consultant, have been keen visitors to the venue since day one. However, since Alan has taken it over the Guru’s have been hugely impressed with the efforts and dedication of maintaining the 17 well-stocked lakes, and they wanted to offer something back.
