GURU DUO SELECTED FOR ENGLAND

Guru anglers Steve Ringer and Adam Rooney have been chosen to represent England in 2012. Steve has been selected in the five-man squad that will compete for the Feeder World Championships to be held in Belgium this July, whereas Adam will be part of the B Team, which is made up from promising, talented anglers on the fringe of the full national side and will compete in a friendly international at the same Belgian venue in April.
The World Championships will be held at the Watersports Centre, Ghent, Belgium on the 6th and 7th of July and the Team Manager, Tom Pickering told us that he hoped that his team would find support in the summer, “Because the venue is only 1 hour and 20 minutes away from the Channel Tunnel, it would be fantastic to see quite a few English supporters watching the World Feeder Championships in 2012.”
He went on to explain his decision to create a B Team, “This year we have a lot to look forward to, including a friendly international event in April at the same venue in Ghent, where I will also be putting in two teams, the World team and also a team of younger anglers so that Glenn Lawrence (team coach) and I can help develop them to international standards."

It is hoped that the A Team, which also includes Steve’s brother Phil Ringer, Mick Vials, Dean Barlow, and Darren Cox can beat last year’s 5th place and get onto the podium in 2012. Dick Clegg OBE, who is International Events Manager for the Angling Trust is upbeat about the team’s chances, saying, "Tom has selected another strong team for Belgium, and I applaud his forward thinking in developing a pathway and an academy style programme for the future of the feeder team. The fishing in Belgium should suit our English style of feeder fishing, and I expect this team to make the podium in both the team and individual events."
All at Guru wish the team the very best of luck!
