Winter League Success - Andy Pell

We are now approaching the 5th round of The Angling Trust’s Winter League, at Castle Ashby. After the previous weekend, my Team Guru squad is now four points clear at the top of the league, with only two rounds to go.

Consistency has been the key so far this year and our results speak for themselves, as we haven't finished below 3rd in any round yet.

Running up to round four, we had two second places and a third, which had put us joint-top with a local Castle Ashby team. A superb performance from a favoured draw last weekend put us clear at the top. Three section wins, three section-seconds along with a section third and fifth, saw us win by a clear 11 points from the second-placed team.

So far during the league I have had a mixed bag of results, but for me, the last round came good. After finding some carp on the method feeder I managed to win my section and frame on my lake.

Bizarrely, carp count only as 2lb on the Grendon Lake, but thankfully I managed ten fish, which all fell to the 24 gram X-Safe Method Feeder with a Ringers yellow-banded Allsorts molded onto the feeder, to weigh in 21lb 6oz, which was an easy win in my section.

Hopefully, we can stay consistent during the final two rounds and win the league, giving us a place on the big final in July.

Until next time,
Andy Pell.
