Winter League Winner - Pemb Wrighting

With just one round of the Aldershot Winter League to go, Pemb Wrighting’s Daiwa Dorking team were leading the way, but it was close! A good result would see the famous old outfit take the title, and Pemb was hoping to play his part.

The competition took place on Aldershot venue, Gold Valley, a venue that Pemb knows very well. He drew peg 24 on Gold Lake and explained his plan of attack to us “I knew that the area could produce well for skimmers and might well throw up the odd carp too. As it turned out, I did hook a carp on my Pellet Cone rig, but lost it after it snapped me up on a snag, so that was the end of that!

Pemb didn’t let the loss of the carp hold him back though, and concentrated on his pole line to help push for that vital section win. “I managed 34lb of good quality skimmers on the long pole, which was enough to win the section and secure me second spot in the silver-fish pool, which was a nice bonus. Importantly, the team won and wrapped up the Winter League title, so it was a good day all round!”

Well done Pemb and Daiwa Dorking!
