Vincent John Mark Lloyd - When fishing the pellet feeder, what length rod is the best to use, 10ft, 11ft or 12ft?

When it comes to choosing the right length of rod, it all depends how far you want to cast. For standard commercial work, i.e. chucking 15m to 35m, then I prefer to use a 10ft rod. For casting 35m to 50m it’s 11ft and finally for anything over 50m then I’ll switch to 12ft, just to make the casting process that bit easier. As you’ll probably gather by reading this, I’m a big fan of short feeder rods on commercials, as I find they make fish playing a lot easier. They also tend to have a softer-action, which in turn, helps to reduce hook pulls, particularly around the net.

Be lucky,

Steve Ringer.
